Mini Police Project

Mini Police Project

Over the Summer term, Year 5 have been doing a Mini Police Project with PC Matt from Barnstaple Police Station.

They decided on a project that they would like to do in the community. As a group, they chose to look at road safety and speeding.

PC Matt spoke to the children about the importance of drivers sticking to the speed limits and what the police do to try and make sure that people on the roads are driving carefully and sensibly.

At the end of the project, Year 5 went onto the pavement near the school and used a police speed gun to test the speed of cars going past. The speed limit in the village is 30mph, and there are 2 light up signs that warn cars when they are going over this speed limit. PC Matt then talked to the children about what he would do with the results.
